The RFU 24/Sevens Series which was launched last year, has selected Hartpury Sevens as a local qualifier for the regional finals in Exeter later this year.
The annual Hartpury Sevens tournament, which will take place on 13th of May at Hartpury College, enters its fourth year in 2017 and hosts 16 women’s and men’s teams from all angles of the country. For the first time, both the women’s and the men’s competitions will be part of the series.
The RFU-initiated series is an exciting sevens competition for all rugby teams, welcoming anyone who just wants to pick up a ball and run, for fun or glory.
The community sevens series creates fresh meaning for the summer season, with 32 existing sevens festivals becoming Qualifiers for 4 new regional England Rugby 24/Sevens Play-Off events. These ultimately feed a pinnacle 24/Sevens National Final. The Play-offs and Final event will be a vibrant mix of electric rugby and music. 24 teams will win a place at the National final.
England Rugby 24/Sevens will showcase the best sevens teams and players in the country. At the successful series launch in 2016 Seventy 7’s won the men’s competition and Orchard Pigs the women’s tournament at the end of a massive finals day at Saracens’ Allianz Park.
