In 2013 the Hartpury Sevens were initially launched as a fundraiser for the universities women’s team, which developed into one of the best sides in the county over the last few years.
For the fourth edition of Hartpury Sevens we aim to run the biggest women’s competition yet. 16 teams are invited to join us on 13 May for an action-packed day at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire. This year the women’s tournament is officially part of the RFU 24/7s series, offering the winner a chance to compete at the regional finals in Exeter on 15th-16th July.
However, there is so much more to play for. With three competitions at stake (Cup, Plate and Shield), the tournament is open to all players from up and down the country. At entry fees as low as £48 for a university side and £60 for a club team, this is a fantastic opportunity to play 7s at one of the finest rugby places in the UK.
This year there is a particularly strong focus on all girls and women’s 7s rugby activities as the Bamboos are also planning to launch the first women’s team. Therefore it is just about the right time to join the fantastic “This Girl Can” – campaign. The initiative supported by Sport England and powered by The National Lottery celebrates active women everywhere who are doing their thing no matter how they do it, how they look or even how sweaty they get.
