In a few days’ time the Bamboos will head off to their next stop of the 2014 Summer Tour: The Milton Keynes Rugby 7s festival. The tournament holds elite, open, social and ladies competitions and attracts a great numbers of spectators which will enjoy the great family-friendly atmosphere.
The Bamboos will enter a rugby field for the first time under the new name 7 Bamboos RFC since successfully becoming the first-ever GRFU affiliated rugby sevens club. The team will travel with an ambitious and exciting 12-men squad to Milton Keynes, striving to entertain the spectators. The side entered the top competition of the tournament, facing Towcestrians, Leicester Lions, Cobra 7s and St. Edward’s Martyrs to secure one of the two popular semi-final spots in their Pool B.
A £500 cash cheque is waiting for the winner of the elite comp, while the runner-up will cash in £300. Before the Bamboos hit the road in the early hours on Saturday, a final training session on Wednesday night at their training HQ Hartpury College takes place. Head coach Ryan Forshaw hopes to get a big turn-out before making a final selection on Thursday.
