The first round of the HSBC Sevens World Series is wrapped up. At the Gold Coast 7s in the All Blacks beat Australia in the final with 40:19. England secured the third place with a victory over South Africa (47:0) and Fiji won the plate final against Kenya (36:0).

Hosts New Zealand proved to be too strong for their closest rivals South Africa in the Cup final of the Welington Sevens. Gordon Tietjens team secured a clear 21-0 win previous series leader South Africa.
With a try by Tim Mikkelson and two by Sherwin Stowers in a rainy and windy match the All Blacks Sevens not just won the home tournament but also managed to claim back the lead in the HSBC Sevens Series.
In the other finals, former England Sevens coach Ben Ryan’s Fiji beat England in the Play-Off match with a last second try 14-7.
Australia beat Canada 12-10, coming back from a 10 points difference.
Kenya beat Scotland 24-14 to claim the Bowl.
The USA beat Portugal 31-10 with two tries by Carline Isles.
