As we all know, from time to time, life takes some unexpected twists and turns. One of the Bamboos most regular players, Alex Onyeahasi certainly didn’t expect to return to Germany that quickly when the team departed from Stuttgart to fly back to Heathrow after an eventful appearance at the countries biggest 7s tournament AMS Sevens last month.
However, the club Neckarsulm SU, hosts of the tournament, were very eager to find and sign a utility back for the upcoming season in Germany’s premier rugby league after the first-choice flyhalf left the club towards the end of last season.
Onyeahasi played almost all Bamboos tournaments in the last two years and when the opportunity to play a season in Germany came up, he didn’t hesitate. Recently Bristol-based Onyeahasi played his XVs rugby for National league club Clifton Rugby.
The club recently secured the services of Hartpury-graduate Alex Cox, another player who represented the Bamboos in the past. Scrum-half Cox played at the AMS Sevens for his new club Neckarsulm for the first time and has been very impressed with the setup and the management and is now excited to start a new chapter in his career.
We wish both players best of luck for the upcoming season and will keep following their development.
