The first weekend in June is traditionally one of the busiest in the Bamboos-calendar with both squads in action on Saturday as well as the tournament crew working hard to deliver the only junior club 7s tournament in the area a day later.
Since it’s beginnings in 2015, 7 Bamboos have been working closely alongside the SW7s Festival, a rugby and music event, which takes place each year at Cleve RFC in the North-East of Bristol.
The festival has great ambitions to grow into one of the biggest sports and music events in the South-West and the growing number of attending teams and spectators prove that there is plenty of support.
The three-day event is unique as it offers a programme for all age groups from u14s up to senior level. On Saturday, the spotlight is on the senior competitions, where the Bamboos compete at the Men’s and Women’s open, while the Sunday is all about to determine the best junior 7s teams in the country.
On Saturday night, expect a full festival line up of some of the best live bands and DJs from across the area.
While the 7 Bamboos Women’s had their first run-around of the season already two weeks ago at the Hartpury Sevens, the men’s team launch the season this Saturday in Bristol. Both squads will contain a number of new faces in addition to our long-serving players.
For the first time, the men’s team will also be supported with a selection of German national players as part of a new partnership between the German Rugby Board and 7 Bamboos RFC.
It’s going to be an exciting weekend for the whole Bamboos Crew and we are looking forward to seeing our teams in action, as well as 100s of youngsters, experience 7s.
There are still a limited number of tickets available to buy either from the SW7s Website or on the door on each of the three festival days.
