In partnership with Germany’s most active and biggest touring side, the Bataillon d'Amour, the Bamboos women’s and men’s team will compete at the country’s largest 7s festival this summer.
The AMS Sevens tournament held in the south of Germany near Stuttgart hosts each year over 35 teams from 14 nations and takes place from the 20th to 22nd of July.
Aiming to expand the Bamboos profile, this new partnership is a fantastic opportunity to reach out to new oversea markets. The Bataillon are on an ambitious mission to bring players from all paths together to share the passion for the sport. Founder Jakob Seifert launched the project in 2014 and has since then managed to build a strong reputation and a remarkable fellowship. Besides plenty of 7s tournaments, the team also competes at Beach Rugby and 15s tournaments all over Europe each year.
At the AMS Sevens, six male and female players from each team, will form the competing squads for the weekend. The aim is to make this connection a long-lasting one, providing more opportunities for both clubs to approach new projects together, said Bamboos founder Max Lueck.
Germany’s 7s scene is growing extremely fast, thanks to a very successful national side and a very active community. Last year, Munich hosted the first-ever international 7s tournament with the Octoberfest 7s at the Olympic Stadium.
