This Saturday, the Bamboos Women’s team will get their first opportunity to showcase the brand-new kit at the fifth Hartpury Sevens tournament in Gloucestershire.
Following two seasons with kit supplier Raging Bull Sportswear, the Gloucestershire-based company, have been officially announced as the new main sponsor for the 7 Bamboos RFC women’s and men’s teams.
The deal includes brand new kit packages for the UK circuit as well as a fresh design for the Germany tour in July, when the Bamboos women’s and men’s players team up with the German touring side Bataillon d’ Bamboos to compete at the countries biggest tournament AMS Sevens in Neckarsulm, near Stuttgart.
At last year’s Hartpury Sevens, the Bamboos Women’s played their very first tournament and made it to the Plate final where they eventually lost to a strong Tiger’s 7s team from Cheltenham. On the back of an eventful 2017 season, which included the qualification for the RFU 24/Sevens Series regional finals, the team gained plenty of confidence to head into another successful year.
Under the guidance of coach Lewis Pratten, the players worked hard in recent weeks to prepare for an intense series of tournaments throughout the summer. The injured captain Lucy Juffkins will be replaced by Philippines international player Tanya Bird, who will lead the team out on Saturday.
In the pool stages, the Bamboos face Germany’s RK03 Berlin, Cheltenham’s Tiger’s 7s and Tyrell’s Premiership Gloucester-Hartpury.
