How can I get involved?
As a Player
Are you a rugby sevens player and would like to train and play for the Bamboos? The easiest way forward is to get in touch with us. As a heads-up, we train regularly at our training base at Shaftesbury Park in Bristol, home of the Dings Crusaders RFC, from April until July. Training time is usually Wednesday’s 6.30pm. However times may vary – so better check with us before coming down.
As a Coach
We offer different coaching opportunities across our areas. We coach in schools, clubs, camps and of course our development squad. If you are interested in getting involved in any of these areas please forward your CV to mail@7bamboosrugby.
Two particular reasons:
1) Be different - to our best knowledge no other rugby (or any sport) team is called after a grass (yes, bamboo is a grass not a plant). We thought that give us some sort of uniqueness, a principle that we try to encourage throughout all areas.
2) It suits our philosophy – 7 Bamboos Rugby is a fast-growing and flexible project with a strong focus on development. Bamboos is similar, once the tiny seeds are planted, it grows heavily with extreme strong roots. The seeds turn into enormously useful tools. Whether you want to build a bamboos bicycle or need a bamboos scafolding, nothing is impossible.
What is the difference between 7 Bamboos Rugby and 7 Bamboos RFC?
7 Bamboos RFC is the first-ever rugby sevens club in Gloucestershire and the social arm of the limited company 7 Bamboos Rugby. 7 Bamboos RFC operates as a separate club and oversees any playing activities of the development squad. 7 Bamboos Rugby, on the other hand, covers the business areas of our school programme, events, and merchandise.
Got a story for us?
Are you a journalist, looking for the next big story? Don’t look any further. We have a great story to share. Whether it is about sports or start-up’s we are happy to be featured on your platform. Loads of other media have distributed the Bamboos story, so don’t be shy and give us a call.
How to become a partner?
We have a range of incredibly supportive and generous partners on board. Some of the biggest rugby brands and local businesses in Gloucestershire are already with us. So why not join them and support the Bamboos in one of many different ways. Find out more here or download our sponsorship proposal.
Which charities do you support?
At the moment, we are supporting two charities. Wooden Spoon is the children’s charity of rugby. They are doing such an amazing job in funding life-changing projects that support children and young people with disabilities or living in disadvantage. In addition, we collect rugby kit for Bula Boots, a charity that supports young people in Fiji, who can't afford to buy kit.
